Football Headed to the Semi-Finals

Football team headed to semi-finals of Div II AA after taking down 9-2 Knoxville Grace 45-21 Friday night. 

Running back Jaden Lyles rushed for three touchdowns in the first half to go along with a long run for Kyle McNamara for a touchdown and a short run for score for Jackson Harmon. 
The team's 35-14 lead at half held strong throughout the second. 
McNamara caught another pass from quarterback Luther Richesson in the third quarter to get ahead 42-21. 
Mason Long kicked a final field goal in the fourth to make it 45-21 as the final. 
The team will get a rematch against Christ Presbyterian Academy this Friday for a berth into the State Championship.

National Signing Day

We are excited to celebrate our 5 seniors who signed to continue their academic and athletic careers yesterday on National Signing Day. Hannah Blackburn will play volleyball for Union University, Mimi Herring will play soccer for Harding University, Maggie Keenan will play volleyball for Austin Peay University, Jack O'Dowd will play baseball for Vanderbilt University and Mikele Vickers will run track for University of Tennessee. Congratulations Hannah, Mimi, Maggie, Jack and Mikele- your hard work, dedication and pursuit of excellence paid off.   #MustangPride

Volleyball Headed To Quarterfinals Of TSSAA Tournament

Congratulations to the volleyball team who took down Girls Preperatory School in 4 sets last night to secure their spot in the next round of the TSSAA Division II-AA playoffs.  Set scores were 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-18. The team will head to Knoxville on Saturday to play Knoxville Catholic in the Quarterfinals. Winner of that match will play in the final four of the State Championship next week  You can go here for bracket informaiton on the tournament.

Volleyball moves on in the Division II-AA Region

Volleyball moves on to the first round of Division II-AA Region Tournament after defeating Ensworth in 4 sets; 13-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17. They will play Girls Preparatory School on Tuesday, October 15 at 5:15 at home.  Maggie Keenan was MVP of the Division II-AA Middle Region and named to the All-Tournament team. Congratulations Maggie on these outstanding accomplishiments and to the team as they move forward in the tournament!

Leslie Robinson Named Middle School Softball Coach

Leslie Robinson, former SEC collegiate athlete and NCAA Division II coach, has been named Lipscomb Academy middle school softball coach. Robinson, an avid lover of softball, has played the sport competitively for more than twenty years. 

“Lipscomb Academy is excited about the expertise that Leslie brings to our softball program. Her firsthand knowledge as an athlete on both high school and college levels, coupled with collegiate coaching, will be an asset in developing the middle school team and preparing them for play on a varsity level,” stated Michelle York, associate head of school for athletics.

Girls Soccer Celebrates Senior Night

The Lipscomb Academy girls soccer team celebrated senior night in a big way with a 1-0 win over Martin Luther King Jr. High School Thursday evening. The team honored seniors Mimi Herring, Maria Gilbert, Kristen Freund, Taylor Caldwell, Melanie McConnell, Maggie Hamar, Keagan Pendergrass, Catherine Marshall at halftime. We are thankful for these student-athletes hard work, dedication and leadership on and off the field! #MustangPride

Football defeats Goodpasture 63-21 in homecoming game

Football wins big 63-21 over long-time rival Goodpasture to keep the 
Martin-McCadams Cup for another year

 Alumni,family and friends all showed up big for Homecoming 2019 on Friday night as the Mustangs beat the Goodpasture Cougars 63-21 in their 51st meeting, taking the 26-25 all-time series lead.
Before the rivals took the field, the crowd gathered at the baseball field to hear Nashville based band, Hudson Valley and platinum country artist, Jerrod Niemann perform in the pregame Mustang Stampede concert. 
The Martin-McCadams Cup, honors two long time football coaches Glenn McCadams from Lipscomb Academy and David Martin from Goodpasture for their years of dedication and sevice to both institutions. The cup was created by Goodpasture last year for the 50th meeting of the teams. 
The Mustangs improve to 4-1 and a have a bye next week. They will travel to CPA on October 4th to take on the Lions.
